We have updated our company mission statement.  We believe our new mission statement more clearly communicates the essence of who we are and how we can benefit our clients.

Our new mission statement is: Pioneer Strategies partners with clients to plan and implement strategic communication campaigns to achieve their goals.

Our revised mission statement communicates several key things:

1.  Partnership:  We seek to be more than a mere service provider for our clients; we seek to be a true strategic partner.

2.  Our emphasis on planning:  We believe a solid strategic plan necessarily precedes an effective public relations campaign.

Cantwell: LeBron James calls the shots at ESPN

Si Cantwell of The Wilmington Star News posted this item on his blog today:   LeBron James calls the shots at ESPN.

In the post Cantwell quotes Eric Deggans, a media critic at the St. Petersburg Times, as saying that the manner in which LeBron James announced his decision to leave Cleveland and play for the Miami Heat “heralds the next step in a growing problem for modern journalism.”

Cantwell’s post is worth a read for anyone who deals with the media on a frequent basis.

Public Relations lessons from the LeBron James media spectacle

Over the past couple of weeks the media has made much of NBA star LeBron James’ free agency and subsequent decision to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers and join the Miami Heat.  When I look at this situation from the perspective of a public relations counselor, several things jump out at me.

First, let’s consider some background and context.
