Small Business Survey Results: News Sources

This is the sixth installment in a series of posts focusing on the results of our recent small business survey. Please note that this is not a scientific poll. Please also note that response totals may not be recorded at precisely 100.0% due to rounding.

When asked to identify all general sources from which they obtain news, respondents answered as follows:

  • Print newspaper:  55.9%
  • Specialized periodicals (i.e. business / trade magazines):  61.0%
  • Online news sites:  81.4%
  • Blogs:  16.9%
  • Broadcast television newscasts:  52.5%
  • 24-hour cable news:  52.5%
  • Other news shows (i.e. The Daily Show):  5.1%
  • Radio newscasts:  25.4%
  • Radio talk shows:  40.7%
  • Facebook:  42.4%
  • Twitter:  16.9%

When asked to identify the primary source from which they obtain news, respondents answered as follows:

  • Print newspaper:  10.2%
  • Specialized periodicals (i.e. business / trade magazines):  0.0%
  • Online news sites:  39.0%
  • Blogs:  0.0%
  • Broadcast television newscasts:  13.6%
  • 24-hour cable news:  30.5%
  • Other news shows (i.e. The Daily Show):  0.0%
  • Radio newscasts:  3.4%
  • Radio talk shows:  1.7%
  • Facebook:  0.0%
  • Twitter:  1.7%
